Adrian Newey says a competitive 2012 season - which saw the team secure their third constructors' and drivers' championships - is no guarantee that they can maintain that level next season.
The 2013 season sees just minor changes to the technical regulations, meaning teams can continue to develop and evolve their current chassis for next year, rather than starting from a clean sheet. As a result, it's likely the order will remain similar to that of the final few races.
Newey isn't getting complacent though despite their success and says the first race may spring a surprise.
"We have [finished the season strongly], but that's no guarantee of anything [for 2013]," ESPNF1 quote Red Bull's chief technical officer as saying.
"We know what we hope to achieve over the winter but we have no idea what everybody else will achieve. We'll turn up in Melbourne and see, and that's the great thing about Formula 1, you never know."
