Mercedes have unveiled a new Formula 1 Safety and Medical cars for the 2015 season, with an updated Mercedes-AMG GT S and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S respectively.
Bernd Mayländer will continue in his role as Safety Car driver alongside co-driver Peter Tibbetts.
“The gull-wing SLS AMG was my official car in Formula 1 for five years,” said Mayländer.
“Now I’m looking forward to the new Mercedes-AMG GT S, which I have been fortunate enough to get to know during its development phase.
“The new AMG sports car won me over immediately with its high-caliber race track performance.”
Alan van der Merwe remains in charge of the Medical Car, transporting Dr. Ian Roberts, the FIA’s Medical Rescue Coordinator, to any incidents which may require his assistance.
The new Medical Car has greater storage capacity, not only for an additional two medical staff but a larger 490-liter luggage compartment for emergency equipment, including a defibrillator and respirator.
