Sauber made an earlier than normal driver line-up announcement last month, confirming that both Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson have been signed on for another season.
The decision to announce early was made to avoid silly season rumours which usually spread toward the end of the year, as most teams wait until after the summer break to make public their driver plans.
“It just brings in a certain consistency, and stability of course, and it just clams things down,” team principal Monisha Kaltenborn told ESPN.
“There are so many rumours around and our drivers then get questions and they don’t know what to say and what is right and what is wrong.
“It clarifies the situation, it’s transparent and now everyone knows and all those topics of speculation are over as far as we are concerned.”
